Ingredients

  • 400 g gluten-free bread 4 slices
  • 2 large eggs
  • 200 g oat milk gluten & dairy free
  • 30 g sugar
  • 2 g ground cinnamon
  • 1 g ground nutmeg
  • 20 g Violife vegan butter preferred
  • Maple syrup or honey plus fresh berries or fruits

Instructions

  • In a bowl, whisk the eggs, oat milk, vanilla extract, ground nutmeg, and cinnamon until well combined. This mixture will be your egg batter or custard.
  • Take a slice of gluten-free bread and dip it into the egg batter mixture for 25-30 seconds on both sides. Drip off excess custard batter.
  • Heat a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat and coat the surface with a small cube of vegan butter.
  • Pan-fry the coated bread slice in the preheated skillet or griddle. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Repeat the process with the remaining slices of gluten free bread.
  • Once all the slices are cooked, transfer them to a serving plate. You can keep the cooked toasts warm in a low-heat oven while you cook the remaining slices.
  • Serve the gluten-free French toast warm, topped with maple syrup, fresh berries or fruits, powdered sugar, or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Use a separate container for the gluten free bread and custard mixture to avoid cross-contamination with gluten-containing ingredients.
  • If you have a celiac or gluten sensitivity, check that all ingredients used, such as the vanilla extract and ground cinnamon, are certified gluten free.
